Hi all
I would love to see a feature on Freesound in the near future that allows downloaders to donate to those who they download from (contributes).

I know its "Free" sound but the website itself has a donate option - only seams fair to allow contributors to also collect donations for their hard work via paypal or something

There is a feature. it's called a "paypal button" and other payment platforms exist that enable donation links to be generated.

It allows people who seek donors to put it on their profile. There is nothing inherently wrong with doing this. Many do this already.

You are also free to offer your patronage to anyone via a private message and some will gladly point you to their paypal.

I don't see why Freesound has to facilitate this? It would fundamentally change the way people approached using the site.

As far as i'm aware, there's nothing in the terms of use that limits self promotion in this way. There's even a dedicated "home page" URL to display on your profile page via your settings.

Spamming/soliciting is forbidden, so sending private messages, comments and forum threads dedicated to advertising or begging for donations is a nope. But most people already know not to do that anyway (common sense)
