Hello everyone,
I'm looking for more sound moderators...
if you can say yes to the majority of these, and you feel like being a freesound moderator send an email to "support [@ goes here] freesound [. goes here] org" with in the subject: "moderator me!". Explain in the email why you would be a good moderator, tell me something about yourself and tell me why we should add you to the list of moderators.
cheers,
- Bram
Hello CGEffex,
You are a relatively new Freesound user. I greatly appreciate your application to become a sound moderator, but I would like to wait a bit longer to welcome new moderators. Longer after becoming a member that is...
I think for now you can help us best by just being an active community member: answering forum posts, helping people out the best you can, interacting with people, commenting on files, following up on user's files, reporting any illegal files in the system, .... This also greatly reduces the time we (the people who run freesound) spent on supporting freesound daily.
Hope you understand!
- Bram
Funny... its like getting a cool job that your not even getting PAID to do it... HAAHHAHA... i wish i can aswell, im more into sound than music :!:
hello...
My name is Omar Alvarado.
I am only 16 years old , currently in high school, and in the OHS band.
I believe I should be a mod for the following reasons.
1. I know what a sound should sound like, and I know a bit of what I am usually doing.
2. I can usually differentiate coppy rrighted material from non copyright material.
3. I spend at least 25 to 40 hours a week online, so I am usually available unless I have homework.
4. I am usually on top of things, unless I have things with other priorities.
5. Fast learning! Depending on the learning curb, I can most times pick stuff up really really fast!
Request: Use as little graphical apps as possible! i use a screen reader!
Request2: Please change my Email to omaralvarado@centurylink.net.
My old one expired.
I changed ISP's. Thanks and I look forward to being a mod soon!
May I suggest to approve sounds immediately, and have users flag inappropriate sounds, and then moderators check flagged sounds (and may be delete automatically sounds flagged by many users)?
It's nearly a week I'm waiting to have my sounds approved, this certainly discourages future contributions.
Waiting is always somewhat annoying (yes i've got a number of files waiting for approval too), but i fear that auto approval would lead to heavy spam, in one way or another. I'm thinking that all those spam posts in the forum is more than enough, but if it gets widely known that one can upload just about everything at freesound, it will turn into a battle of mods vs spammers. Exposure is what spam is about, so if 10 people hears a file before it gets deleted, their mission is accomplished.
Lesser spam equals happier users, even if the waiting can be a drag.
I would like to volunteer to be a sound moderator. I am a long time member, have probably downloaded the most amount of sounds for my Ambiance app, and I listen to, rate and moderate audio everyday for that app. I would be happy to help curate Freesound
If you're still taking volunteer sound moderators, I'd like to sign up.

How about whitelisting (no moderation) for users with more than... say 300 sounds?
This type of whitelisting already occurs, the threshold seems to be about 500 (problem-free) submissions.
In the past mods couldnt tell if somebody had a tainted "history". now we have a system with notes so at least I will be much more confident white listing folks. Also, im always open to bribes.
Longtime musician here, and very familiar with copyright laws. Professional IT Manager and computer geek. And been producing music both amateur and professionally for over 10 years. Would love to help out, and plan to start posting more raw samples once my first set gets approved... and can tell you need more moderators!
I would be willing to moderate:
* users' sound submissions, especially the first ones
* forum posts of users, especially the first ones
* comments of users, especially the first ones
* newly registered users' profiles (they can put spam in their profile, right?
Is there a function to delete a user and all their posts for anybody right now? Because this seems to be really needed right now (for example: http://www.freesound.org/people/rafiq01/ )
This was an old thread so I don't if your still looking for help, but I can give it a go because this forum is getting absolutely blitzed.
