Hi there Freesounders.
Most of the people that signed to Freesound, are here because it's not always possible to records that exact sound you need, when you need it. It's like you don't have a sea to record the waves, you don't have frogs or aeroplanes near, or even that you don't have a microphone. And freesound helps us with that.
Many of us are also here because we have a bit of a secret (or not so secret) love affair with sound. We like to records sounds and create sounds.
Did it ever happen to you that while you were cooking or cleaning you produced a sound, and you thought "wo nice, i could record that" ?
Sometimes it would be awesome if you could have a couple of friends helping you to make sounds. Imagine 10 people babbling or bitting an apple.
Imagine 40 people snoring or screaming.
Imagine 100 people saying "bzzzzzzzzz" at the same time.
And now that you are on the imagining mood, imagine 300 people that were there to make any sound you wanted them to do.
ok? can u picture that image in your head? 300 people standing right there, that are waiting for your instructions, 300 people that are willing to do any sound you ask them for. At the same time or sequenced or anything you can think off. They are not specialized sound makers, just regular people, but damn, they are 300....
So now i am asking you.....
If this was true... ....what things would you ask them to do? what sounds would you ask them to produce ?
Give us your ideas!!!!

The first thing that comes to my mind is asking them to distribute into groups of (say) 30 persons, and assign to each group the word for a number, from 10 to 1. Then I would start a count-down...
The result might or not be interesting, but I'm sure every TV channel would be there to record the 'happening'
BTW, does FS needs some publicity?
A set of sounds that I would find useful in my work is walla of only the males and then of only the females, each speaking softly, a little more active, normally, animated-happy, and animated-angry. Also, panicked screaming would be good to have.

First thing, I'd have them jump up and down to see if we could make a small earthquake.
Then... I think it'd be cool to record them saying "rutabaga" all at once. I think this is what people used to say to fake conversation.
Oh, and zombie moans!

Eartquake !! yeah... 300 people jumping at the same time can do a nice kick... i wonder if we could synchronize them good enough for that....
Oh!.. zombie moans... that would be great uuuuunnngghhh... hmmmnnn.... brrraaaainnn...
What else what else.....?
300 people is difficult to have. But in Wroclaw (Poland) there's a meeting of about 1500 guitarrists playing Hendrix 'Hey Joe' every may 1. That would be a great field recording.
See photos.

If you like blues, hear the music of Cichonski in http://www.cichonski.art.pl/i_fl_en.htm and play blues with the mouse.

1500 guitarrists it's a shitload of strings!!
300 people may be not that difficult to get but we still wouldn't know what to make them do !!
More ideas please!
OK, this isn't working very well...
People, perhaps you should take plagasul's question seriously...
Perhaps he knows something you don't know.
Perhaps I know something you don't know.
Well, you never know, right, Right? RIGHT???

Perhaps some kind of production like that that was posted in this forum about the Honda Civic advertisement. The question is who makes the score and arrangements?

ain't it difficult to get across what you *mean* sometimes.......
one of my singing colleagues envisaged something like this for one of our songs, where the short chorus was repeated over and over. was to be filmed too, thing is, trying to organise such a gathering!
well I know he would still love to see it happen!
beautiful it would be.
Ok i will say some too...
Half the people doing a long "shhhhhhhhhhh" like asking for silence and at the end, the other half goes in a high pitched "YAH!" scream
it would sound like "shhhhhhhhhhYAH!"
Your turn.

At the complicated end of things: Robert Ashley's "She was a visitor." Two concentric rings of people surround one person who repeats "She was a visitor." The iner ring selects syllables from the center voice. The outer ring (more people, of course) selects consonants or vowels from the syllables. At least, as I recall from a performance I heard too long ago to count (1970?).
