hi guys im new here, Im a sound designer in the game industry.

Everything i download from here is lo-fi...like 64kbs lo-fi. Secondly, why are so many people uploading mp3s..surely those people realise a wav file is far higher fidelity...

The preview button plays a lo-fi version. The download gives you the full hi-fi original. Right-click on the "Download" hyperlink, and choose "save target as".

Freesound is encouraging the use of FLAC - a lossless WAV compressor.

Re mp3 - we feel that to have an mp3 is better than to have no file at all, but, yes, WAV or FLAC is better still!

I AM download and everything is stll lo0-fi..

I am seeing others on ths forum complaining about the poor quality too..

Is this an error on the site o are these people who are doing the recordings just really amateurs?

please give an example of a lofi sound.

remember freesound is a very diverse community: some people are semi-professionals, some are ammateurs.

so, it all depends on what exactly you downloaded, who recorded it and what gear they have.

I'm quite amazed you make an assumption about the almost 20000 sounds on freesound, when you have only downloaded 4 of them.

my apologies if I have jumped the gun on my statements. I have managed to download some files which are high quality. I don't know if its my error or just a few wonky downloads but it doesn't really matter anymore sice its okay!
