Hi to all,
I'm a musician & an electronics hobbyist.
For years I'd been dreaming of being able to draw on the screen a wave, say, like a sine or a square, or any kind of waves, & let the PC play it to hear how it sounds.
I had this fantasy since the AppleII!
Is this possible now? & free?
I still remember the Fairlight ( is this the right name?) from Australia I read 30 years ago!
thanks.
I've had the same idea, but I don't know of any software that does this. But I've been able to do it using a special technique that involves converting greyscale images to sound, see this post [here] to see how I did it. Downside is it only really works for one or two wavelengths and then have that repeated.
Read the entire thread to see how we converted the images to sound.

Draw Toolhttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/manual-1.2/toolbar.htmlEnables the user to draw in to the actual waveforms. This is especially useful to eliminate small pops and clicks from material.
it's a tedious process though : dragging each sample point
I've had a quick go at hand-drawing a waveform on Audacity ... http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=110649
