Creative Commons license: Public Domain Mark 1.0

What is the policy on Freesound regarding redistributing sounds made with a Creative Commons license: Public Domain Mark 1.0 ?
I ask, because some time ago I uploaded some sounds based on material from the film Plan 9 From Outer Space, The accompanying copyright info says:
"This work has been identified as being free of known restrictions under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights.
You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission"
The sounds never showed up here and I can only assume that they were regarded as infinging copyright - although I was never told this - they just never showed up. :roll:
At Freesound we have a policy of only allowing sounds that are yours. Strictly speaking, your upload would transfer the rights of the original maker (regardless of what the maker has indicated) to you, even though Freesound uses CC.
We are of course happy to receive your own samples!

I'm not sure I follow that line of reasoning. In effect I made the recordigns my own as I altered them considerably from the original. How about if I said the exact same words with my own voice? And where do you draw the line with this? There are so many grey areas. It's easy to find examples of sounds that have been allowed here that refute this rule!
It is definitely true that there are lot of grey areas and we deal with them from case to case. All samples are checked by a human moderator and he may have decided that your work was at the wrong side of the line. Please feel free to submit your files again for moderation.
