It is my opinion that the YouTube video ...
"Sad Trombone Sound Effect - Wah Wah Wah FAIL Sound" ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMpXAknykeg
[ Uploaded on Nov 21, 2009 ]
is ...
"Sad Trombone.wav" by Benboncan [ (CC BY 3.0) attribution license ],
http://www.freesound.org/people/Benboncan/sounds/73581/
[ uploaded June 6th, 2009 ]
See the comparison of the two sounds here ... http://imageshack.com/a/img824/1111/wzg0.gif
.
http://imageshack.com/a/img824/1111/wzg0.gif
Currently (140323) there is no attribution whatsoever on that YouTube page (v=iMpXAknykeg) for the sound's creator "Benboncan" who gave their work (Freesound #73581) an attribution license ... http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
v=iMpXAknykeg is a monetized YouTube, ( i.e. it has adverts ), and currently has been viewed over 927,975 times ( the advertising revenue is per-view ).
Making money from an CC-BY-3.0 attribution-licensed sound is permitted provided the author receives attribution , aka credit. Currently no credit for Benboncan on the YouTube v=iMpXAknykeg , nor on the "SoundFXNow" website [ http://soundfxnow.com/sound-fx/sad-trombone-wah/ ] , who claim they have "Millions of Sound Effects" and suspiciously have a link to their website via a "bit.ly" link , which would allow easy redirection to a new website if their current one was closed down for some reason ...

If anyone wishes to complain to YouTube about copyright-infringement of their attribution-licensed-Freesounds see my guide here ... http://www.freesound.org/forum/legal-help-and-attribution-questions/34244/
IMO
"Sad Trombone Sound Effect" on the YouTube channel "EssentialSamples"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC75aU47GRk
is also
"Sad Trombone.wav" by Benboncan [ (CC BY 3.0) attribution license ],
http://www.freesound.org/people/Benboncan/sounds/73581/
Used without attribution. A mere 765,269 views on "EssentialSamples" to date (140327).
they have a website ... http://FailFX.com which is a front for "soundfxnow" (see previous post) ... http://soundfxnow.com/tag/fail/
So between the two YouTube Channels "EssentialSamples" and "soundfxnow"
That's almost 1.7 million views (to date) without any attribution for Benboncan.
Can anybody tell us what 1.7 million views will generate in YouTube advertising revenue ?.
The figures I've seen are between one and ten dollars per thousand views.

Another question: Do YouTube claw back the revenue from the channel owner if the content turns out to be a copyright infringement? If not, then there's precious little to deter such activity, other than a chance of being sued by the content owner which, in the case of an individual, is going to be low.
Yes,but fortunately there are not many cases this crass and there is the possibility of 1.Sending copyright infringement notices and getting those files removed.... and 2.Ultimately youtube/mediafire deleting the channel due to repeated violations (they both reserve the right to do this).
.....and that's enough to justify all the time wasted on this imo.

A repost from another thread but...

SoundEffectsFactory YouTube Channel gets approximately three million views per year,
so it does look like the payment is in the range $1 to $10 per thousand views.
[ That figure doesn't include SEF's income from the associated monetized Medifire downloads,
some of which are attribution-licensed freesounds redistributed with any attribution,
and even "non-commercial attribution" licensed Freesounds redistributed without any attribution.
SEF is a very naughty boy, ( unfortunately one with plenty of pocket-money ) ].
...if the stats are real. From what I know, there are (semi)automated ways to cheat YT views as well as downloads in other services. The reason for using such tools is very simple - more downloads, better exposure.
I hate it when people do stuff like this I have been cheated on some of my sounds as well(A lot of my vocal requests) people just won't credit
