Hi everyone, Can I use samples that are in the category "Creative Commons" without the worry of any copyright infringement. I am designing a new sound effect box that will play different sounds when a button is pressed, and if it works, I intend to sell it ?? thankyou
Creative Commons are a set of licenses; licenses have terms; not complying with a license's terms is an infringement just like with standard copyright.
Each sound here comes with a specific license, look for instance at the random sound of the day in the home page; under the number of comments, the circled icon(s) at the lower right corner indicate the license, hover on them with the mouse for a short description.
If you then go the sound page, you'll see the specific license under the download button; click on it to read the license.
Creative Commons' terms are reasonable, but if for any reason you should have trouble complying even just with attribution, limit your search to sounds under the CC-0 and the obsolete Sampling+ licenses and you'll be safe.
