I am making sculptures with motion-activated recorded sounds inside them. Since they will ultimately be in a gallery for sale, I guess there is no way around the fact that this is a commercial use?
Yes this is definitely commercial use, unless you give away all of the sculptures for free. So please be mindful of the license type pertaining to the sounds you're using, making sure they do not have a CC-BY-NC license (non commercial).
Are you planning on crediting authors of sounds that are CC-BY (attribution)?
If you want to use a non-commercial sound you always can send a mail to the user. Maybe he/she will give you permission with special conditions as I do often.
If this is yours. http://ginatelcocci.com/installation/ Your work is great.
Sorry, he's right and it's something I overlooked. Most users are often very accepting when others take the consideration to ask. 9 times out of 10 they will let you use the work commercially without any required equity.
Hey, I've downloaded at least one of your recordings. I'll let you know if & when I use it. Thanks, all.
