This morning I made a recording of Louis Armstrong's "What a wunderful world", played on a carillon which could be heard in the whole city center and beyond. Is this copy righted material or can this recording be published on freesound?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
I am new here, but im going to do my best to answer you to the best of my knowledge. I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.
I would have to say that it is indeed copyrighted material. I also do not speak for freesound.com but i would say that they would not allow you to upload that here. It's really about common sense and doing a small amount of research, the song in question was only released in 1967, so its not old enough to fall into the public domain (if that's what you were alluding to).
Edited: I also found this which might apply with it being a carillon tune https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_version#U.S._copyright_law
