Hello,
I'm willing to create a YouTube channel to provide behind the scenes videos about some future sounds (that I'll post on the website) with the Freesound logo on it (bottom right corner, for example) as I'm a part of the community and so I want to make a little tribute on each videos.
Is it ok to do that, or not?
REMINDER: I'm not making money by doing that.
Thanks in advance.
Personally, I don't see why not.
As I presume you will put a link to the sound you upload on the site, and you aren't making a profit, I would be shocked if there were some issues of copyright. There're some videos on YouTube that review Freesound as a site, and those feature the logo. There's been no issue with those videos.
You could even argue that the logo doesn't pass the threshold of originality, and so it would not really be protected by copyright law in the U.S., but blah, I think that takes it a bit far.
Hopefully a mod or admin will post here to clarify it officially for you.
Hey
Although it's probably not going to be a problem given that this is a non-profit organisation and the way you intend to use the asset is pretty innocuous, you should nevertheless be aware of what's stated in the Terms of Use for Freesound.org.

If I were you, I would contact admin of the site using the contact form here: http://www.freesound.org/contact/ just to make sure you're playing by the book. I'll pop a word to Bram/admin and direct to this thread, it might be simpler that way.

This is a clear and logical answer to what was a very sensible question asked with good intent. Although the answer is clearly implied in the T&Cs; I think it would be very useful to add to the FAQs.
Perhaps something like this -
Q: "Can I use the Freesound logo in my work?"
A: "No. Using the logo might confuse people into thinking you are representing Freesound. Also since Freesound imposes no restrictions on how the sounds are used, other than following copyright rules, we cannot be associated with or thought to be endorsing any content over which we have no control."
I got you, no problem. I'm not pretending to be a part of Freesound staff but I just wanted to point that I'm a part of the community sound creators and that I was just proud of it.
Then, I don't want to bring any issues and I will NOT use the official logo on my Facebook account, YouTube videos or whatever.
Many thanks for the answers
