Hey, I'm new here. I'm working on a mod for Unreal Tournament 3 and I need some sound effects such as gun shots and what not. I started experimenting with making gun shots by mixing various drum sounds and synthesizers in FL Studio. While I have made some satisfactory sounds, I still need more to work with. I read the Creative Commons thing but I just want to clear a few things up before I step in.
So a few questions on how I am able to use the sounds.
1. Am I aloud to use a sound from here and modify it to suit my needs? (i.e. cut, pitch shift, distortion, echo, etc.). Am I also aloud to mix together various other sounds?
2. I will likely publish this mod and release it to the public for download. Is that still ok with using these sounds?
3. In the case where I may be making profit in the event a mod is a big success (hopeful thinking lol) where I might be awarded for a contest or something, does that change my ability to use these sounds?
4. If crediting is mandatory, do I have to credit each specific sound or can I just make a list such as
Some sound effects used in this mod were downloaded from www.freesound.org. My thanks to:

Any help is much appreciated. If all is cool, I can give back with some of my own sound effects which I will be working on over the months.
to answer 3-I think that's between you and the person who's sound you used. For the most part people here will let you use it with out problems. To answer 4- you need to make a list like you said-put the persons name you used then the sound. Time consuming only if you didn't keep track of the sounds authors or what sounds you downloaded (good thing this place does BOTH for you!!!). So yes you'll have to credit each person with their sounds
1. Yes you are! Please do.
2. Yes, as long as you credit the creators. If you cannot do this ingame (such as in a credits list), you can do it in a readme, and the readme must be included in every copy (so if somebody downloads it and sends it to a friend, he also must send the readme)
3. According to the license, commercial use is allowed, you shouldn't need to contact any freesounder.
4. as explained by LS.
