just a heads up that I shared a sound in good faith 11 years ago, and twice, I've had copyright strikes from professional recordings who used the sound. One was a fairly well-know band, and I was able to work it out directly with the band themselves. I just disputed my second strike, but be careful giving away your stuff here, and then trying to use it on youtube later.

im so happy you said that i was thinking the same thing while i was going to upload sounds that i made now i will opy right my sounds but here you can only upload non copy right sounds at least from what i read in there terms and conditions

My advice is to keep the sounds you're "precious" about to yourself, and share the sounds you think can be harvested and faux copyrighted.

Indeed. The ability to do this trumps all the plagiarists and thieves. They may rip something off, or steal something, but we can keep making them by the thousands, and we can make them free so that the others will almost never be able to sell them. It will take them too much time and energy to do anything to counter this, so only the most industrious of them will ever manage it. By the time they've done that, they will have developed a tool or technique that's potent enough to be useful on its own without any plagiarism. With any luck, that experience will also have matured them as people, and they will start creating more and consuming less.

Either they will become industrious creatives like us or they will condemn themselves to sit on the sidelines once again. Whatever happens, none of it can touch the beauty or majesty of your work.
