Sorry if this has been asked a whole lot of times, but it must be answered.

Am I allowed to use sounds from freesound.org in videos that are on YouTube Partner Channels, meaning they will have ads on them and all that?

I would of course give credit to Freesound.org, but I don't want to get into legal trouble.

Any insight on this is appreciated. I'm a nub when it comes to copyright. lol

That thread should answer the question i'm sure as long as your video isnt an ad itself and its a creative work you should be fine.

The link above to the other forum topic on Youtube Partner support is no longer valid.

Youtube recently made some Partner Support videos that cleared up more exactly how they want the attributions written up. I have had some challenges from them apparently because I didn't write it up and link properly.

The Youtube partner channel is "PartnerSupport"

Here is an example of how I am providing the documentation now (for Royalty Free Music)

The music tracks used in my video are:

"Surf Inspector" by Kevin Macleod.
Here is a direct link to a page that contains the track:
[this would be a link] /m/c/royalty-free/index.html?keywords=Inspector+Surf

"Noise Attack" by Kevin MacLeod.
Here is a direct link to a page that contains the track:
[this would be a link] m/c/royalty-free/index.html?genre=Rock

The license terms can be found here:
[this would be a link] incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/licenses/

Per the license terms, the name is included in the video description.

A couple of little problems. One is that Youtube gives you only 1000 characters to describe your rights to content. If in your video you have an actor, some graphics, sound FX, and music from a couple of artists, you'll run out of characters to list all that!

A second potential problem. See the ? in the URLs? Thats not really cool. Its not going to be a permanent link. A year from now there is a very good chance that link will not work. I suggest to be safest, the download link to each track should be on a static html page. But maybe it won't matter, once a claim is submitted.

So let me get this straight since I've wondered this the last 5 years or so:

Is it OK to sample contents from any youtube film, and upload it here to freesound with the proper attribution and link to the video in question?
