As the title says, who inspired you to get out there and make (or capture) some noise?

I got started kind of late in life, around 17, so I can still remember my inspiration clearly: Green Day's "American Idiot". Specifically, the Jesus of Suburbia/Homecoming suites, which were a totally new idea to me. I generally liked short songs better than long ones, but the idea of seamlessly stringing together 4 or 5 mini songs into one big long track was something I hadn't heard at that point in my life.

I had already been tinkering with midi a little, but casually; one day I was re-listening to American Idiot and suddenly thought 'hey; I'd like to try to do that!'. So I found a proper daw -- Reaper -- discovered soundfonts, vst's, etc...finally after a few days an idea clicked and two weeks later I made my first track of any significance, Beep Bop...Shameless promotion: you can find it on my soundcloud in the sig below...uses no freesounds unfortunately

Thus began an obsession.

Nine Inch Nails - "Broken" (album). In particular, the song "Wish". During the verses and choruses, it sounded like there were distinct layers of sounds unique to themselves, not fixable to recognizable instruments. From there, it was to Industrial Music like Skinny Puppy and the scene that grew from, to pure noise and Avante Garde wierdos like Nurse With Wound and Merzbow.

So many musicians I can't mention. But the most significant artist in my life that inspired me was Bonobo. Kind of trip hop drum n bass sounds. I love Simon Greens music.

I can't listen to Bob Dylan without wanting to pick up my instruments. Or U2 or the pixies, or Brian Eno, or Prokofiev or The Pet Shop Boys or John Coltrane or J.S. Bach... or or or or

For me it's got to be Karlheinz Stockhausen.

For me it was Massive Attack's "Blue Lines" along with Tricky's "Maxinquaye". Before that, probably Pink Floyd's "Meddle".

The most important song in my life was probably "Being Boiled" (The Human League).
