Oh baby, doesn't the term "Farmhouse Beef Schnitzel" sound just ever so delicious?
Well I just had one at a restaurant and it wasn't great. Looked great in the picture, but it wasn't good.
Just wanted to warn you that just because something is one of the most expensive items on the menu, it doesn't mean it's all it should be.
Too bad I didn't record the sound a Farmhouse Beef Schnitzel makes. Forgot my microphone. The one that records sounds anyway.
Peace.
Now ya started something! I'm reminiscing, in my way-back machine - over grandma's homemade, melt-in-your-mouth strudel ... home-made by a little German/Romanian immigrant grandma many years ago. Sometimes apple, sometimes peach, and sometimes cherry ... sigh ... I remember the sound of her rolling out the dough, so paper thin that you could almost see through it. There was the sound of the flour sifter, laying down some flour to keep the dough from sticking. It's a shame they don’t make a digital recorder for smells and tastes: if so, and if I'd had one (unlikely), I could share some "click and sniffs" with all of you.
I probably heard some Beef Schnitzel in the making too but, alas, I remembereth not. Nor do I remember goulash - very far away from something that, for my young taste bud, would be considered barely good. I remember it as best forgotten.
Also, there was grandpa's personal recipe of smoked pork sausage, looking something like head cheese but tasting awesome. Meine mutter wouldn’t let me eat it because she thought I might get trichinosis. I did sneak some, after all, it didn't seem to hurt grandpa. There was always some ropes of his sausage hanging in the mud room (a large screened-in porch, one might say). Therein, at certain times of the year, I remember sounds of hatchling chicks, yeeping away in a box heated with a light bulb.
