I just had the experience of recording a voice mail - the last record my father in law's voice, left for one of his daughters. It was a short message regarding his hopes for the outcome of a particular baseball game. T'was tinny sounding but his personality projected perfectly. I found it interesting how Jack's personality was independent of the frequency band. I found myself wishing he had said a few more words.
Nice play on words - late sound experience!! Good one.
And great that Jack's voice, and as you say his personality, has taken a step towards some sort of immortality. Maybe it is best that he did not record more - just that little fragment probably contains so much. I assume he was a baseball fan for example - how did the game turn out - was it the result he wanted? It must be quite moving to listen to - these small things bring people so close all over again.
I feel this experience is very much “music concrete”(sorry wrong spelling)…I mean…beyond the tagging of “music….” when I read the post, and it´s reply by ERH…just got the image you are telling about…I was about to ask you to upload the sound, but the point is …that, it sound by the words. enough to me.
Great Experience.
