Hi all,
I've just completed general technical theatre training, specialising in stage management.
Coming from a music background, I've developed a keen interest in the sound design side of things. I've really enjoyed creating and collecting sound effects and ambiences and have just bought a Zoom H2 to do some field recording (expect some uploads soon ). I'd like to move on and study more about theatrical sound design, foley, audio engineering and the like.
Anyone with any hints as to London part-time courses that might fit the bill?
Thanks,
s.
When I was looking into doing HE in London a few years back, Ravensbourne College seemed to be well geared towards sound design. I've no idea what they offer on a part time basis though. The UCAS website will give away some other schools worth looking at. It might be worth looking at some private courses too. The BBC do various intensive courses lasting from a day to a week. School Of Sound is worth a look at as well www.schoolofsound.co.uk/. They aren't in London but I think it'd be worth the journey if you can muster the funding.
Have a look at www.filmsound.org if you haven't found it already too. They've nothing to do with courses as far as I know, but all sorts to do with sound design. Audiomedia (free sound magazine) also list up up and coming sound courses/organisations and what not
Fabulous, thanks very much bulj.
I think SoS is a little out of my range - I'm never going to be a composer - but thanks for the link to FilmSound, I didn't know about that! Will also check out audiomedia.
Cheers,
s.
