Hey everyone, Matt here!
I just wanted to make it public that I'm now making myself available to do various types of work for free (if you want to donate for any work done, we can discuss that in private.)
The types of work I'm offering.
> Voice-overs.
> Vocals (singing, both clean and otherwise, depends on the genre and style you want.)
> Mixing of your music.
> Mastering of your music.
The types of work I won't do.
> Vocal tuning in mixing.
> Any comping in mixing (taking multiple vocal recordings of the same verse, for instance, and making it into one single track, or taking multiple guitar recordings of said verse and reconciling it into one track.)
> Drum augmentation in mixing (unless I deem it musically necessary.)
> Any type of recording that involves you personally coming to my studio (think drum tracking.)
A little back-story: I've been making music for about five years now under the "Untitled Hypocrisy" name, and making music in general probably for about nine years now, or longer. As far as vocal work goes, I've been singing and learning the art of singing for I would say seven years. I use the term "singing" loosely: not only do I sing "clean," but I can do such things as heavy metal growling-type vocals, to scream-type vocals (these, I'm not too comfortable doing just yet, but am more than willing to do them if you require them. You can't learn and master something unless you practice!)
Along those same lines, I've been mixing and mastering my own music for about five years, as well. I'm no professional, I've never had proper training, but what I have had is five years of free time to learn and experiment, and I feel I can now finally offer a quality product.
A few more words about my vocal work: I don't do profanity. I feel that all language has its place and time, however for most occasions profanity adds nothing to what you're saying in any artistic medium.
Along those same lines, I won't do anything sexually explicit. I have no reasoning other than not wanting that to be a part of my portfolio.
As far as my mixing and mastering is concerned, I specialize more in rock and metal, but am more than willing to branch out and try different things!
My style, not only in mixing but in music, focuses around punchy, yet controlled, bass, with emphasis on "space," giving the music its own special atmosphere, with bass, kick, snare, and toms driving the beat forward as needed.
If you request that I mix your music, I ask of only a few things: get the tone you want when you record, make sure your recordings are high in quality (low noise floor, 16-24 bit depth, 44.1-48 sample rate) and don't expect me to take your poorly recording tracks and give you professional results! I will not "fix it in the mix." Give me quality, you'll get quality in return!
I'll require that if you want me to mix your music, it has to be in separate wave files (one for rhythm guitar, one for lead, one for bass, etc) at the aforementioned bit depth and sample rate. There's not much I can do if you have all guitars in one track, drums in one track, etc.
Full disclosure: every single thing I do, and will do, will be kept on my computer and compiled into a portfolio. When you agree to work with me, you agree that you acknowledge this, and are willing to let me post your work (with proper crediting, of course) as I see fit to further my work, and hand it out to anyone that considers me for a job position.
I will NOT ever steal your work, in part or in whole. Your work is your work, period.
However, this does NOT mean you can give me zero credit!
You MUST acknowledge me fully for EVERY job that I fulfill for you on any online medium that the work appears, and/or on any physical medium that the work appears on. The credits I wish for you to use will be disclosed upon request.
That being said, any work I do for you can be used commercially, for profit. Crediting me is still a requirement even at this point (and no, you can't pay me off to waive due credit.)
Legal and business stuff aside, I'm sure you're wondering what kind of equipment and software I use, so I'll go through that a bit.
As far as gear, I use a GXL2200 condenser mic, a Yamaha MG102C mixer, Alesis mini-compressor/limiter, ART 31 band graphic EQ, all running into a Line6 TonePort GX USB interface/guitar amp emulator. I also have an Alesis Q49 MIDI keyboard for synth work, and mix/master through Alesis M1Active 320 monitors primarily (I do have some other speakers and headphones that I compare mixes/masters on.)
Concerning software, my recording, mixing, and mastering software is Cakewalk Sonar Platinum. I use stock plugins for 99% of my mixing and mastering, using a very small amount of free ones if the need arises.
Any request made will be started and completed in the below described timelines after an agreement is reached. No work other than a short (30 seconds or less depending on the job) audition will be done prior to any agreement.
For voice-overs, depending on the length of the script, you can expect that within 2-3 days.
For singing, 1 week up to a maximum of 2 weeks depending on the job.
For mixing, expect that to take a week.
For mastering, expect that to take 3-4 days.
All the above timelines are approximate, as fulfilling your job may take more or less time than described, and depends heavily on what kind of work I have going on at the time of your request.
I want to make this clear: I am under NO obligation to help you. If for any reason I feel I cannot fulfill your request, your request will be denied and I will do what I can to explain why. Please do NOT get angry at me if your project is denied!
If you're curious about what I have done up to this point, all I have to offer are the sample(s) on my page here on Freesound, and my musical work located at the following link, right now a total of four full-length albums and three singles.

Private messages for all requests are preferred, but if you would rather post in public, I can understand that.
If you have any other questions, go ahead and ask away!
Oh, and if you ever hit it big with something I've helped you with, do try to remember me, and send a little something my way, if you can!
Have a great day!
-Matt
PS: In case you're curious as to why I'm offering my services for free, it's fairly simple: I've noticed a disturbing lack of quality work being done for free or for almost nothing (say under $50 USD) and have a desire to expose myself to new thoughts and ideas.
Also, any files I am to give to you will be done on a host of my choosing (don't worry, I do my best to find ad-free, wait-free file hosting.) I will require you to let me know when you receive these files so that I can remove them from the file hosting site for security reasons.
Lastly, I have to mention this: I can only do business with English speakers, and those that speak English well. I'm an American, and have no real experience with any language other than English. Thanks!
The sample requests sub forum is a good way to get the ball rolling. Tons of VO requests there.
Hello!
I can post another over there, if that would be preferred.
I didn't in the first place because I thought that sub-forum was only for sample requests, and not letting people know that you can fulfill requests.
Thanks!
-Matt
