Hello. I'm new here but I realy want to ask you...
We've all gone through this phase in life, sometimes more often than others. But haven't you ever asked yourself, "Why am I on this earth"? What am I here for? Exactly just what is your purpose in life?
P.S. Sorry If wrong section!
Jeez, it seems the main goal in life for some people is writing about the meaning of life...

I share Monty Python's point of view on the subject:

L.S. I live in Seattle and was in S.F. around 2 months ago with my girlfriend, next time you need to hit me up about that pot there buddy! I could probably go on and on about the meaning of life in which case I agree strongly on the theory of helping others when they need it, and severely disagree on anything Robert Anton Wilson writes. I hate hiM. Other than that Script Kitten this is probably the wrong forum, hah! and yes dobride, there are people that make it their job to find the meaning, lol whats the point in that? Screw Genesis, I'm gonna read the hitchhikers guide again!
I think my meaning is to create... I'm here to leave something (musical or otherwise) behind for some one else to find... not that it'll be any good and if it is odds are I'll spend my whole life working at it. But I'm here to leave something behind for someone... someday...
Faith does always seem to be important, but I also have it fine with the idea that this is now and contributing to this thread is the meaning of my life and you are reading what is left behind.
Simple,or else as Jean Renoir said....

All I can say is that life is more happy if you start each day of it with a smile and finish with a good thought...
Mine is to:
Live Simply, Love Uniquely, Learn Abundantly, Create Beauty.
So that encompasses gardening (LS) although I don't do pot, but hey, each to their own. My thing is organic veges, flowers, whatever. And create beauty also encompasses leaving a legacy, so I support the guy who wants to leave music, with me it's likely to be art.

"Lifes a piece of shit... When you look at it..."
It is just like everything else an individual encounters: It exists only the context of the person experiencing it. I don't think life itself posses any meaning. "Meaning" is given to it in as many ways (And through as many concepts) as there are people who are alive. Some things give meaning to other things, but nothing gives meaning to itself (Besides the soul/self/mind that is. But many argue that that process is ultimately fruitless as well).
Nothing might give meaning to itself, that doesn't mean it has no meaning. Even "nothing" has a meaning, for if there wasn't nothing, there wouldn't be anything else either.
I came to think about a similar matter. I had a conversation the other day about absolute happiness. We thought maybe that was synonymous with absolute freedom. I thought if you had absolute freedom, you could choose to do whatever you wanted to do. (Also see xkcd) And that could mean that what you choose to do is the purpose you're here.
Paradox: if you'd have the freedom to do whatever you want, you could choose not to be free.
Everyone will have a different meaning in life. It all depends on their outlook. I don't know if anyone can honestly say that they know what their purpose is. I don't know my purpose, I don't know if it will ever come to me but I know that actively searching for it won't get me to it any faster.
I will simply enjoy my life because I only have one to live. I'll experience and learn all that I can in one lifetime and enjoy doing so. Perhaps that's my purpose if you want to look at it like that...to enjoy.
This life is a short one so doing anything but enjoying is a waste of time.
