what kind of DAW do you use? and why? I use FL studio 8 xxl and I use it because it is cheap and I havent really tried many other DAWs. :roll:

I use Ableton Live, quite satisfied with it, it has the best graphic interface imho, user friendly and rather intuitive. the Ableton website is well done, many tutorials and useful stuff, and they offer interesting packs of sounds. there are interesting modules for sound synthesis such as Operator, a frequency modulator synth. http://www.ableton.com/products
I did buy the basic version, maybe in the future I'll try some other module... it's only an hobby for me

I tried Cakewalk Sonar but prefer Ableton, no doubts

I use Reason and FL Studio depending on what im looking for.

I like FL for beats and Reason for sound scapes.

I've been very lucky with FL Studio. It's cheap and the updates are free. The GUI is pretty good too and if you download a lot of freeware VSTs, you'll have yourself a formidable audio-makin' machine.

I'm interested in getting Ableton Live as Daft Punk uses it and Deadmau5 uses it also, along with FL Studio.

You left out the best one, Reaper... almost weekly updates, unlimited routing possibilities, NAGLESS SHAREWARE and $50 when you have the cash.

Hasn't crashed yet and was a miracle upgrade from my old obsolete nerdware... the difference on the mixdowns is startling compared to my old crap program that I hung on to for decades because I paid for it.

Full blown audio and midi sequencing, unlimited VST stacking and customization. The absolute best software I have ever seen and at a price you cannot refuse. Grab a track and send it to other tracks or itself as sends or returns or midi or whatever. Works with virtual control surfaces, has automation and many other features I'll never use. Throw Kjaerhus's Master Limiter on the Master track and never see a pop or glitch in your mixdown's again (worth the price alone for me after dealing with obsolete archaic non VST supporting software all these years... idiot)

I have one version running on laptop and can have VST's running on seperate version running on PC downstairs to free up CPU for track space... The native plugins have the best presets I have seen in ANY free VST's and I have not even explored the JS format plugins. It hosts VST, VSTi, DX at lower CPU uses than MiniHost and doesn't cause the chaotic ASIOforall freezeups and need to restart PC every 3 uses to get soundcard to work again... oh and Mac users can use it too... you can also write your own plugins in their JS format.

Their support forums are unreal, you can talk to the developer (he made winamp) on the forums. You don't need a credit card or disposable income to use it and it's installer is only a few megabytes...

I tried FL demo and couldn't get into it, and I can't afford to try the others on the list. I am a freeware junkie but don't mind paying for this software, considering no one is forcing me to. Anyone who hasn't at least checked it out before dropping down hundreds on software is doing themselves a disservice.

I was skeptical at first but I have deleted at least 4 or 5 programs off my hard drive on each PC since finding this and have never looked back. Once I have converted all the annoying proprietary master tracks of the dozens of songs in progress, it's add/remove time for my old faithful crapware for sure.

I use flstudio pro edition but like noise mentioned I also use reaper. Its pretty solid. I use abelton as well (just started to use it) love it a lot. I'd use logic if i had a mac-which interesting enough i have the very first version of logic for pc that came out waaaaaaaay back when but I never use

Syna-Max: I didnt know Daft Punk uses ableton, I though they only used hardware. Anyway Im a HUGE daft punk fan hock: so thanks for the info.

I use FL8 xxl but honestly it's a bit of a drag, making songs gets tedious
