looking for advise on putting two sound samples together.

I am working on a project and I am creating machine gun fire for a prop I am working on. I found a clip that I like but it is only 2 seconds or so. What I would like to do is copy the clip and paste it onto the end to make it longer when I try that you can hear that. You can hear the space inbetween the two clips and it takes away from the effect. I am also trying to add a dry fire sound on the end I have a couple of different sounds to choose from again its all about being able to splice it so it doesnt sound so fake. I would apritiate any help.
