mike i noticed this when you sent me the stop file - however when i just put a c at the end it let me convert it, otherwise it opens it up in Flash - as flash format is .fla !
zeroline - as batch conversion goes i use http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html which enables you to encode and decode multiple flac files!
I use MacFLAC on OSX and dBpowerAMP Music Converter with the FLAC plugin on windows mostly.
I'm using my Mac most of the time now, so I forget how dBpowerAMP's batch abilities are, but its explorer integration is top-notch.
MacFLAC is innately a batch converter, which is convenient. I generally convert one-at-a-time though, so I can check the error log for each file individually. When exporting from any Apple program such as Final Cut Pro, this is unfortunately neccessary because they produce notoriously non-standard aiff files. (I sometimes need to convert to wav with VLC first before passing it into MacFLAC in order to eliminate unknown chunks.)
I use Audacity < http://audacity.sourceforge.net > for editing out unwanted sounds and some effects, dBpowerAMP < http://www.dbpoweramp.com > for convertions and normalization and AV Music Morpher < http://www.musicmorpher.com > for morphing voice and other preset weird effects.
