Audacity does have a universal binary version for MAC, it's on their download page. If you're working on a Mac and just want something that records exactly what your computer's audio is playing, check out Wire Tap Pro at www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/. You can download the demo version which will record in 44.1/16 quality for unlimited time limit. Purchase for 19 bucks and it has more features and recording options. Takes no configuring at all, any audio your machine is playing it will record internally with as good quality as your original source. Especially good for recording streaming audio from the net and taking audio off dvd's.
WOW! Thanks! That's awesome. I don't primarily work on a Mac but one of my friends does
Thanks for the tip

Right. In fact, I downloaded it & have been using it for a month now. What was I thinking again?
But it would be cool if Audacity could do that thing about recording the computer sound output. Can it?
it can, but on some peoples computer. no
Well, it Refutles to do so on my cop-nuter.
I've been searching for a thingy online that does that, but I can't find any goodie ones.
Any suggestions!? I heave (a Windows)!!! Nomacintosh!
Ok, first don't take microsoft s*** and take for instance demo of Sound Forge or Cool Edit Pro
or GoldWave or an free recording program...
When you have an program to record, right-click on the small volume icon on right-button
and click "Open Volume Control" you will have this the windows "Properties":

So select the good device, click the recording circle, and click the check-box Stereo-mix,
after click OK, you will have the window on right, mute all but not "recording" and "Stereo mix"
and don"t forget to turn-up recording volume....
YES!!! It's working!!!
Thankyou everyone! This is a new dawn in sampling for me

hello_flowers
I've been looking for a free program to record my computer's audio output. I can't find one. I thought I could do it with Windows Sound Recorder, but for some reason, it refuses to record.
I just found this one : http://www.roemersoftware.com/free-sound-recorder.html
The free version only records to MP3. $29.95 for the full version. The free one still looks ok though.
If you want to record from the output of one program to the input of another and your audio/sound card doesn't have that feature, you can look at software like jack. Jackdmp (http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jackdmp.html) is a newer implementation of the jack program with ports to Linux and Windows.
Hello, everyone
I record sound from my computer using internal soundcard settings
When i want to record sounds use set the Record source to MIX,
now i change to Audacity ( which is a good prog ) ,
set the Record source there to MIX too,
know i can record sounds.
it takes some time before i found out how to record sounds, but know it works fine.
in case your soundcard just try software like Jack.
