I don't know how to describe it...that weird 'flanging' sound you hear in a lot of field recordings. You can hear it in this sample:

This is a good sample but what causes that sound :?:
Are you listening to a downloaded copy, or listening via the FS preview?
If the latter, I would put the effect down to the compression used in the FS preview player
(not that I can hear the effect you describe, but that proves little).

its either the file itself (in this case i wouldn't say its the file) or the preview (which is what i would say it is). also its the rate of the mp3 or wave file. crappier files have this flange sound often...kinda like when a song or sample is streamed-often you get that flange sound.
what causes it? gonna assume the latency from streaming? anyone have a better answer?
Right , it's in the preview ! I have not been downloading some samples because of this...just downloaded the one I posted above and it's not there... hock: ( at least not as much ) Thanks !
