Hello All
I have this idea of producing a mock audio guide to a group of streets in Birmingham (UK). I'd like to have things start with pretty 'safe' local history scripts (and there is plenty of genuine and disturbing local history to use) but then slowly slide into something a little more sinister...
How do people recommend mixing binaural effects into a recording with a commentary? Am I looking at stereo 'foley' tracks of people sneaking up behind and then mixed in or is it possible to mix in and pan mono material with binaural 'placement'?
I have little experience with binaural recording.
For UK residents: think 'jumper ooters' on Edinburgh ghost tours and you have the picture.
Cheers
Hello Benboncan
I'll be using either audacity or ardour on Ubuntu, with field recordings made on a Zoom H2.
My plan is to do a binaural 'street sound' recording along the walk, then mix in the commentary (frontish) and then the 'jumper ooters' and other effects (sort of round the back and approaching)
I need to learn about binaural itself yet, just wanted to make sure that I was not attempting the impossible.
Cheers

Wonderfully clear, with no background hiss at all, and I have noted the pre-amplifier that you are using as well. I've just received a package of Panasonic capsules and so to see what I can produce. Thanks
