Hello everyone. I was always interested in creating sounds and applying them to video games or movies.
I'm a college student who knows absolutely nothing about technology. I know sound designing requires
intelligence and creativeness. I have no idea where to start.
I played cello for nearly 15 years, took college level music theory classes, and some beginning level of audio engineering classes.
I realized Business management is just not for me so I'm taking my path to sound designing since this is what I love to do.
I have Logic 9, Reason, and DP7 on the laptop. If you guys could suggest me with
books, websites, advices and tips to get me going, that would be great!
P.S. I would like to go to graduate school for sound engineering. I know New York University and University of Miami's
sound engineering programs are superb. Any sound engineering graduate students here?
Thank you.
One Book about Sound Design, that i really can recommend, is:
http://www.wizoobooks.com/product_info.php?language=en&products_id=63
Programming Synthesizers by Peter Georges (Wizoobooks)
It's a complete Course: From Beginner to Pro.
EDIT: the english version of the book seem's no longer be available (or am i wrong?) I'll send you a PM...
Because you have "Reason", you can try the "Subtractor" Synth, that is Part of it. But there is a free Software-Synthesizer for Windows and Mac bundeled with the mentioned Book.
Hope it helps,
Soundful Greetings,
.Ingo.
Hi jivatma07. Thank you for your reply. I found out that all you need to do is go to the website that you've given me,
and send them a request form then they will give me a link to purchase the book. Can't wait till I get this book.
Once again, Thank you.
Best,
