Hi
I've enjoyed this site for a long time, but have yet to contribute and am looking to buy my first portable recorder. It's also something I could use for work (I'm a language trainer and recording clients is a useful teaching tool, at the moment I use my mobile/cell phone - obviously, the quality is awful).
The Olypmus ls series has caught my eye, and I've read some of the posts regarding the ls-10 vs. other machines. I think the ls-11 would be a great purchase, but am not sure I can justify stretching to £260+ that it is advertised for here in the UK. The next model down after the older ls-10 is the ls-5, which has yet to be mentioned on this site (as far as I can tell). Does anyone have any comments on it? Would it be a good 'entry level' machine? In the UK the ls-5 retails for about £100 less than the ls-11 which would be easier to swallow, if it any failings aren't going to any me.
Thanks
Jim
Well, just an update, I found the LS-11 online for £199 so I went for it anyway. Thanks for all the views, even if there were no replies. I look forward to uploading some recordings soon.
