Hi,
there is another project dedicated to collect a database of sounds. Of fieldrecordings, samples, collages, synthesizer-love, recorded by volunteer contributers.
It is a spin-off project of librivox.org where throusands of volunteers record free audiobooks and put them in the public domain. I wanted to take that model of a collaborative effort for the public domain, and take it to the medium sound, recording the sounds of the world. Here it is:
www.pdsounds.org
We need contributions, sounds, suggestions, participants. The project is still young. And it is very open and flexible and ready to be shaped and evolved by you.
greetings,
Stephan
Very good job Stephan,
Definitely i will suggest your site to everyone interested in music.
I have download some good tunes...
Thanks....
First if you can say what is the Programming Language that the site is done,
after if you can say what operating system you use,
after search about Spectral Centroid algorithm for Amplitude Preview...
The problem is that there is not Module/Routine for convert compressed sounds
to raw PCM data for files like mp3/wma/ogg/flac
in VB, JAVAScript, PHP and PERL langage (I think, exception to JAVA for MP3 files)
So the server must do the job throught an external program that running on the OS
that scan the files and make the two preview in Small an Normal Size...
Thank you that helped me find more relevant posts about it. Was curious how it generally works.
The wav2png.tar.gz is nowhere to be found and i don't dare to ask Bram about it.
I would never be able to get this running on my server anyway. Too high for me.
You talked about that:
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/files/wav2png.tar.gz
And read that after:
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1114&sid=67b43f7a7d902ad1fa3ff27db0b919fc
but if you need programming help just say ...
And you don't said with what you make running your site ...
