Hi,

I found this project earlier today when helping my step-son with an animation project.

He's been recording, frame by frame, Lego models using a web-cam and Microsoft's Vidcap32, scenes have been joined with AVIEdit from a chap called Alexander Milukov which also allows simple addition of WAV files.

Some sounds of Jet Planes, Zaps and crashes from this project really helped to set off this afternoon's work. He's justifiably proud of his work, and your sounds. The description of how some of these sound where made/recorded also gave some further inspiration.

The point of this messages is to ask for recommendations, AVIEdit can add sounds but it really can not mix them. Does anyone know of some simple lowcost Windows mixing software? I guess we need to be able to trim or fade sounds, fit them to a time lines and combine 2 or 3 sound sources into a single WAV output.

I used Krystal Audio Engine for a year or two before I stepped up to Cubase. It's free, gives you 16 tracks to work with, and you can use vst effects on each channel individually (up to 2 per channel). Fairly simple to use, and if you ever step up to a more professional DAW, it will be easier because it is set up much the same as ProTools or Cubase are.

Try ACID Express from Sony. I don't have Pro, it takes up too much of my tiny laptop screen. I like ACID's versitility. You can play with loops, play with MIDI, load VSTs, play around with effects. The only thing I cannot figure out how to do is to invert the channels, or even if ACID has that feature.

Thanks for the tips, couldn't really work out Mixere and had problems installing Indepth... but that may have been my laptop.

Krystal does the job but Audacity looks simpler... might try that later.

If simple is the operative word, I would also reccomend Audacity.

Or maybe something like Windows Movie Maker (yeech) or iMove for the Mac, if you want to have an easier time editing and syncing it up with the video.
