Could anybody please tell me the overall measurements of the Rode NT 4, as I would like to see, if it would fit into my windshield.

Hi there
Talking from memory, approximately around 200 mm long, shaft 40mm in diametre, and the head... some 55 mm wide.
Which windshield do you have? I could fit the NT4 inside a Rycote without difficulty, but the main problem was not size, the problem was *weight*: being so heavy it tended to move from the elastic bands, even if tight. These were unable to keep it in place securely (actually that's why I sold my NT4 last year). Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice! :lol:Did you bought another stereo-microphone instead?

No, after some trial&error I concluded that no common single point mic could give me quiet natural sounds the way I wanted (so I housed two mics inside the rycote and started to record in mid-side stereo). The AT835st from Audiotechnica is still appealing to me as a single-point mic, though.

Thank you very much for all your help!!!!
It might be too big after all and maybe to heavy for my windshield. So I might go for s.th. else.
The AT835st sounds pretty good, but I wonder how good it sounds. Are there any samples around?

For me the weight is a killer ( ~ 500 g)...it's really best for studio work, does a great job on instruments, vocals etc, foley but for stereo recording the sound-stage of the X/Y config is often a bit narrow for the types of sounds I am trying to capture in the field, that is generally ambience type stuff.
I hate to admit it (nice I love mics and mixers etc) but I am happy with my SP binaurals and an R-09 95% of the time for field recording.
