Fostex FR-2LE and Audio Technica AT 822 microphone

I would love to operate my Audio Technica AT 822 unbalanced microphone on the FR2LE. The signal is extremly week, when I use the normal cable. I also tried XLR adapters, but no difference. Is there a solution ?
