im thinking of making a parabolic dish and i was wondering whats better, for the mic to be facing towards the dish or away( like inside at the bottom ive seen)?
There is a "sweet spot" in the dish, where the sound is most audible. The mic "head" (whether top or bottom) should focus there. You can find it by moving the mic around in the dish. Good luck!

towards the dish (=away from the source). The signal is reflected from the dish. It isn't like a flared horn design, where the transducer faces outwards (but you wouldn't be able to lift a practical horn loaded mic!) If you use an omni this isn't so critical, though IMO you still want to point the omni inwards
hey thanks! that will help a lot
