I am trying to figure out how to make the trance snare commonly found in a lot of Tiesto/ Paul Van dyk/ Armin van Buuren/Ferry Corsten type songs. I was told that it is a snare with a reverse gated reverb but through all of my trials I have yet to come up with the result that I wanted. Any help would be appreciated

They are mostly using a TR909 snare with good compression on it. If you are after a way of creating more exiting snarerolls then you should try to add some chorus and phaser to the snare roll.

I'll be happy to make some trance snares for you. Or for anyone, really, but I'm making them now either way.

I think you will find Tiesto/ Paul Van dyk/ Armin van Buuren/Ferry Corsten do spend most of their time in Europe
