Hi, I am curious if any owners of the iKey Plus portable MP3 recorder have been able to record stereo signals through the microphone jack. I bought the thing because it records to MP3, I can monitor the signal while recording, and it (supposedly) can record in stereo. While I believe that it records a stereo signal from the dual RCA jacks, I am unconvinced that the signal from the mic jack is stereo.
The even include a stereo microphone in the package, but I do not hear distinct left and right-channel signals. I believe I have been fooled into believeing that this thing can record stereo mic signals, and I am currently pissed off.
Please tell me that I'm doing something wrong, or that you've been able to make it work.
Note: this discussion began (and is continuing somewhat) on this post.
I have heard from the manufacturer. The problem is not in my setup, nor in the mic jack, but the unit itself does not record in stereo---it is mono record only.
This is despite the fact that it writes 2-channel MP3s, AND includes a stereo microphone, AND includes dual-RCA jacks for line in. The product advertising is misleading, possibly deliberately.
I was told by the manufacturer that the packaging has been changed to reflect the mono capability, but I do not know when that change was affected.
I am attempting to return the item to Audio Max One. I should have bought the Zoom H-4.
