I've just bought NT4... we'll see, hehe hear
I have one, search for NT4 in the search window and you will turn it up...great mic. I put mine in a blimp when outdoors.

I just bought a NT4... I also plan on using it for field recording. I'll be sure to let you know my results.

Yes, the Audio Technica AT-822. In my opinion: its the best!
If "starting small", i.e. cheaper, makes the fun last longer, then I guess Inchadney is having twice the fun as you NT4 guys, since his AT-822 is half the price.
I wonder if you can actually hear any difference between the two, for twice the price?

For outdoor recording where there is a lot of background noise, probably not. The AT822 sounds great.
In the studio, yes.
