I recently got a new soundcard, an m-audio audiophile 2496, and I just noticed that when using the directsound drivers to output sound with fl studio the tracks sound slower and lower pitched than they do with the ASIO drivers.
I think the ASIO drivers output sound more like how it sounded with the onboard sound of my previous computer and my new computer, but I cant be sure.
Can anyone who knows more about this kind of thing than me tell me why they sound different and which I should use?
I'm particularly concerned about the perceived pitch change, its particularly noticeable with a test tone.
This might be due to the fact that the card doesn't have the same sampling rate than FL. Go check it out in the specs. Most of the time this can be adjusted, wether in FL or the card. I might be WAY off but that's the first thing that popped into my mind, as I had a similar problem with different sampling rates. Hope that helps.
I thought it might be that, but FL was set to 44100 and so was the soundcard control panel. I updated the drivers just now and that seems to have fixed it.
Thanks for the input, guys
