What do you guys think has to be the most unique monster sound or sounds created.
The original King Kong
Peter Jacksons King Kong
Peter Jacksons T-rex from King kong
The T-rex from Jurrasic Park
The Coverfield monster
Godzilla
Any Lord of the Rings Creature
Chewbacca
The Rancor
The Raptors from Jurrasic Park
Bronciosarus from Jurrasic Park
Reek from Star Wars
Acklay from Star Wars
Tauntan from Star Wars
Bantha from Star Wars
Boga from Star Wars
If you want to you can add any others to the list that I forgot. It can be anything from older movies to movies that are out now.
I would have to say that the number one monster sound of all time, hands down its...GODZILLA.
There is nothing that even comes close.
To this day I still would like to know how they created that roar.
Yeah really. The creativity of it is awsome.
Actually I looked it up and I found this interview with the composer of the Godzilla film.

One of the questions it asks was how the sound was made. And the composer actually made the sound using a contrabass. Pretty cool.
I also like the T-rex sound.
What do you think of the new peterjackson king kong roars and growls. He doesn't really have a signiture roar like the other monsters,It's not real unique.
He has more of a beastly mesh sounding roar. But it's powerful nonetheless.
Lots of times the sounds will be a massive collage of different sounds. The sound of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars was a combination of about 10 different jets and rocket sounds layer on top of each other. I'm sure that the roar of King Kong in the Peter Jackson film has a few layers of lions, maybe wild boar, tigers, basically any large predatory mammal capable of a beastly roar.
Actually just today I was watching some special features on the Monsters Inc DVD about sound design. They added in faint screaming sound to the cars that drive by because the main power source for the monster civilization is children's screams. In the beginning scenes there are a few monsters with large tentacles that walk over the polished floors of an office building and the sound they used for that was the sound designer's lips flapping around...
not related, but I think the greatest sound ever used in any movie is the sound of the huge machine-guns in aliens (the 2nd movie in the series).

Actually there are so many auditory scenes in Aliens2 that it's my all-time favorite auditory-experience scifi movie.

I hear the sound was good in aliens. I always watch it when it comes on tv. I haven't experienced it on my home theater yet.
I always thought that machine gun sounded a little synthetic. I like organic sounds better. Synth sounds always seem to fit better with music to me.
My favorte sound would have to be the sound of metal bending or goaning. I sounds so mysterious
Ok now you soundheads got my auditory cells flowing
I think the greatest sound ever used in any movie is the sound of the huge machine-guns in aliens (the 2nd movie in the series).Dude...I LOVE THAT SOUND.
I use it in my mods for Homeworld 2.
My favorte sound would have to be the sound of metal bending or goaning. Then you should play Homeworld 2 because when a Capital Ship is destroyed you hear first the sound of the hull groaning before it detonates.
You can also create dark and spooky sounds just by pitching metal objects down really low and running them through reverb plugins.
In "Creepshow" the voices of the zombies.... the one that says "i got my cake" and the two that say "you've got to hold your breath". I've looked everywhere for a link or something.. but all i find are quotes from the humans. Anyway.. that stuff is great... i always wondered what effects they used.
