i just upgraded my RAM to a GB thinking my problems with cubase are over. theyre not.
im using cubase 2.0 and the problem is when im mixing tracks, while its playing back the audio wil just cut out or stutter. im ready to smash my Mouse into pieces but i know that's not the solution.
anyone out there have an idea of how to fix this? is it the buffering? is it Latency? i feel like im ready to go now and now this problem. so fustrating.

It does sound like a buffering problem to me. 1 GB is not a lot of RAM, especially if you're listening to a lot of tracks. If you're worried about latency, I would recommend ASIO4ALL. It may also help with the buffering problem, as you can manually adjust the amount of buffer being used. Can you tell us any more about your computer? That may help also.
im using a desk top, a dell.
im not sure what else to tell. i know how to use my PC but i might not be the most knowledgable technician.
the last time i tried mixing i had 6 tracks. with no effects.
i actually have a GB plus a like a quater GB or whatever came with the computer. so theres more than just a GB.
i dl'd asio4all. when i open it, the only thing that is available to configure it to(meaning items on the upper left, i have one available) is SoundMAX Digital Integrated Audio. and the little music note next to it is x'd out with a red "x". is this my soundcard? does this mean im screwed? does this mean i need to upgrade my soundcard?
try opening the asio4all dialog without cubase running. do this by going to Start-Programs-asio4all-asio4all offline settings. is there still a red x? if there is, asio4all might not be compatible with your sound card. you might still be able to get it to work though, just do a google search with your sound card name and asio4all. somebody out there has probably had the same problem.
if i open asio4all first there is no red x. but after i open cubase and then go back to asio4all the red x suddenly appears.
Okay, are you opening the offline settings with Cubase open? If so, have you also tried changing the drivers Cubase uses for sound? I don't know about Cubase 2.0, but in SX3 you go to Device-Device Setup, then you click on the VST Audiobay, and choose your driver from the dropdown in the top right. Change it to ASIO4ALL v2, and see if you get any love. If not, I think that's all I've got! Hope it works for you!
thanks for all of your help . i managed to switch to asio 4all driver but no change in sound. thanks for you effort!
