I was after a wind-shield for a pair of Audio Technica AT3032 mics. I found a nice company that makes a great product, at about 1/2 the price of the Rycote equivalent.
AT3032 / AT3031 mics are...
Length: 5.67" (144.0 mm)
Diameter: 0.83" (21.0 mm)
I purchased a pair of MicroPuffin from Micover Windscreens as seen below.
They seem well made and should prove durable, they came with a bonus comb to keep the fur in fluffy condition I have not had much time to experiment, but they seem to work (as expected) excellently. At about 1/2 the price of the Rycote Softies are definitely the value proposition in this category.
The puffins consist of a faux-fur outer layer over a open-matrix core material with a central hole designed to accept the microphone. The Puffin does an excellent job of creating a dead-air space around the mic and the faux-fur provides a cushioning against mechanical buffeting by the wind and reduces turbulence at the air-mic interface. This is the same principle that Blimp/Zeppelin (basket-style) wind protection systems use, however these are far more cost effective and much easier to install (slip on/off). The puffins far out-perform the original small-foam covers that came with the mics, which are useless in any breeze you can feel on your skin.

Just make sure your mics and stand are well secured as in a gust these add to the drag and you may find your rig toppling over

Great! I have a pair of 3032s as well (mine are used in a Jecklin disk), and have the (excellent but cost more
than the mic) Rycote system. I'm about to buy another pair of 3032s and will definitely look into this. Just to confirm,
which model micropuffin do you have?
Thanks again
