Odd question, I know. But I'm interested in my upcoming dubstep album to add some new flavours to the basslines. Then it hit me: Back in the 90's whenever you inserted a data CD into your sterep then there was this unbearable noise coming out from the speakers. Anyone here who knows how to recreate these noises?

Try opening some binary files as RAW wave files in audacity.
Files with images in them can give some really fun sounds.
Experiment with the settings.
