basically i know that in jurassic park they mixed sounds a elephant, a alligator, and a giraffe (or some weird mix of animals) to make the sound the t-rex made
so i'm guessing i could do the same (with different sounds) to make sounds for techno. does anyone know any useful programs for melding sounds together like that? or just about advice or suggestions for programs to make my own sounds for my songs?
i would really appreciate some help, i don't like the idea of using fl studios pre-recorded sounds they have built in.

The most useful programs for "melding sounds together" (more commonly known as mixing) are DAWs, Digital Audio Workstations. You can get one for free here.
Woot! thanks a lot bro i can't even tell you how much i appreciate the help here
I guess I got a bit over-zealous...i downloaded kristal and it won't play sounds...can't seem to figure out how to fix it...my guess is it's because i'm on vista 64-bit, so if anyone knows any other DAWs or knows how to fix that i'd be really happy to get some feed back

If you are just mixing & editing sounds to make sound-effects (stretch/pitch/manipulate them), then try using Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
This will let you layer and mix sounds as you wish.
But if you already have FL Studio, then use that to remix the sounds you load in. You have the Playlist and Edison, far more powerful than Audacity.

Check out Ardour. It's an open-source DAW comparable to Pro-Tools.
The skills you develop learning Ardour transfer nicely over to Pro-Tools and other DAW software you may use in the future, plus the functionality is much more advanced. It's worth taking the time to learn it if you're going to be doing a lot of sound work.
It's pretty complex though, especially if you've never seen anythin' like it before.
Hope you like reading manuals...

Only runs on Linux
edit: and Mac... sorry.
Well, linux is free so it's a viable option.
Installing "Gentoo Studio" is a snap, and Ardour comes installed on it.
However, as stated, audacity would probably suit you well for your current needs.
And what are you doing playin' with audio if you're not on a mac, anyways!? Just messin', I'm on a PC too! :\
bah...nothing seems to work on this computer  i guess i'll just have to wait until i get my lap top back...if i ever do.
anyway, thanks a lot for the feed back guys. i at least got some programs that might work on my laptop and i appreciate you guys showing some support
