Haven't watched the video yet, but you could probably set up upstrum and downstrum effects (using delays and note-triggers) in one of the samplers of your choice? I understand it doesn't sound authentic, but now you've got me thinking. Which software do you normally use?
My bad, should've probably watched the video first, I was thinking of something totally different (where a real guitar was not involved at all). I'm still going to try to synthesize guitar chord effects that you can play using your a standard midi controller.
Completely off topic, but I ran across this on the tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ojHdfhl_iw
