Hello fellow Freesounders...
Is anyone using an android phone or tablet for music apps?
Or do you have one of these devices, even if currently not using it for music purposes?
If you can answer "yes" to at least one of the questions above, please answer this post.
I everyone.
Thank you to those who have replied. I am bumping this thread up again, see if I can get a few more replies.
There is something cooking in the background which could become a dare... or something...
Gauging interest by finding out how many users of android phones / tablets there are out there... - this is an essential ingredient in this case.
My son has used his phone for voiceover, and was quite pleased with the results. Myself not so much. I can see that it is "low maintenance" ie no gain control, but there are some problems:
1. HF rolloff at around 200Hz. You can guess why - to mitigate wind and handling noise, but such a low corner frequency affects male voices.
2. Omni pattern. Normally a plus in close work but the recordings contained a huge 124Hz room mode. The engineer in me says the pattern should not matter greatly. What I do know is a directional mic gives more positional choices.
He has now upgraded to a Zoom H4 inside a reflection filter and the results are much better. So much can go over your head when you've no decent monitoring, and the young generation mostly use earbuds.
