Here is what I saw:
The engineere at the recording studio decided he needed a sound effect of a car crash. He opened up a folder, opened a search box for it, typed in car crash and a bunch of different sound effects came up.
Does anyone know of any kind of a program where I can save all my sound effects to one folder and tag them so I can search for specific ones?
Thanks everyone
Love the site
Hey, do you mean a free one? I'm using Nuendo 4 which has 'Media Bay', in 'Media Bay' you can tag your sounds really well and find them again later using keywords. Also, Sound Ideas have got a search engine that you can download and use for your own sfx, I haven't tried it in years but it is worth a shot.
I'm sure there are tons out there and fellow Fresounders will point you towards more options.
Good luck.
Well I am glad that at least someone knows what I'm talking about.
A free one would be nice but i'm willing to pay for one that is not a whole new program. I just need something to catalog my sfx so that I can find them a bit more easily.
I also wanted to know if I can use these inside my recording program Adobe Audition 1.5 and 2.0
So I can just search the file, preview it in the program so i don't have to just randomly open them till I find the one I want, and then click the one I want and then open it so that I don't have to go back into Audition and search it out.
Thanks a bunch
This is a link to the sound ideas engine. I havent used it but a friend of mine recommends it.

This is an old thread, and I guess I'm hoping that theres some new ideas on this... The sound ideas engine lacks some features that I'm looking for, so I uninstalled it.
I'm looking for a program (preferrably free or inexpensive) that will name and tag samples. Another really helpful (almost crucial) feature would be to play the samples that are in a list.
Basically a home version of thefreesoundproject... This is a great site, and I am hoping to find something similar for use on my library.
Thanks in advance for your replies!
