Many of you know that you CAN NOT use a stereo AB-setup recording in MONO. The result is horrible, because you lose a lot of sound information.
BUT there is an EASY WAY to SOLVE THE PROBLEM when you can work with the free AUDACITY audio software.
1] Open the recording in Audacity
2] Spit the STEREO sound into two separate channels (Do not make the recording mono)
3] Delete one channel
4] Make the other channel MONO
5] Save the recording.
Now you have a GREAT MONO result you can use.
That why I always edit this info into my text-field when I use an other setting than XY ore MS;
“ Gear: Primo EM 172 (omni) microphones in AB30 setting in Rode Blimp > Sony PCM D50, 150Hz low-cut, dynamic compression used. When you want to use it in MONO –> delete one channel and make the other channel mono.”
I hope this I helpful.
