Hi. I am looking for a Microphone for filmmaking. I know this isn't a movie forum, but my question is more for the Sound side of filming. I am looking for a mic that will pickup from over or under the subject. Say, 1 1/2 meters away.
Any suggestions :?:
Try any hypercardioid or shotgun condenser mic, if you haven't got mobile phantom preamps, try battery supplied ones like Rode NTG 2 or AT 835 etc . For recording stereo ambience use stereo mic as Rode NT4, but they isn't good for catching objects.
The best mic for film work is the Sennheiser 416 gun mic these are industry standard and can be bought for 400 uk used in the states.. not easy to find but if you do then used correctly you get very high quality directional dialogue. You will also need a full Rycote and windjammer and good boom pole.. do not use this mic on a camera it is too directional and needs to be in exp hands if this mic goes 'off mic' then you will lose quality and not level!
Good luck
