Hey guys! Does anyone around here use s5000/s6000 series Akai samplers? Because I need to know more about 1.)creating your own .akp programs on your computer and 2.)burning your own Akai sample cds (including your custom sample programs). I can't seem to find a good piece of software to turn ordinary collections of samples into working akps, primarily. Any suggestions??

i'm using an S5000, less and less, but it is in use...
to convert your akp/program info you can use cdxtract:
http://www.cdxtract.com/cdxtract.php
or translator:
http://www.chickensystems.com/
if you are using an s5000/6000 i highly recommend the USB option, as it makes the process of moving back and forth between computer and the sampler a breeze. i save the programs and akps to my mac and burn a cd from there, making sure that the cd is PC compatible so that it works with the sampler's file system.

Yeah I remember seeing that Chicken thing when we were still shopping around for samplers and stuff...I forgot all about it though. Good idea.
And I also didn't know that CDextract worked for this kind of thing.
At least we finally got a CD rom hooked up to the s5k and working...so the burning part should be easy now...one of our first projects will be splitting our M-Tron softsynth into samples/akps so we can use the sampler at shows. (We don't have a laptop...yet!)
