I'm playing around with Crazy Talk trying to add some speech for a puppet that will end up on a home-made dvd.
The trouble is that the sound is coming up muffled and quiet. By the time I compensate for noise there's not enough volume left for clarity. I thought it was my voice or background noise or the idiot operating Audacity (ie me...) that was causing the problem.
But now I realise it's probably the Griffin Italk that I've been using for recording and I need a microphone or something instead but have no idea what to look for. Budget is toward the low end.
Thanks
Amanda
My advice would be to purchase any condenser mic you can afford, and find a way to power it via phantom power (+48v) so you can record with it. cheep mixers have phantom power sometimes or you can even get a pre amp for pretty short money depending on your budget.
I haven't used Audacity before but if it has a noise gate plugin you could use that to get rid of the room tone in between your words. if you're new to using a noise gate it can be a bit tricky. if you set it wrong it can chop off the beginnings and endings of words. That might be way more than you want to know, sorry if it was to much and I hope this was somewhat helpful.
