Hi guys,
I would like to purchase a new M/S stereo mic for field recording. Currently I use Audio Technica's AT822 which is good, but I want to go into M/S stereo, want to have a mic with lower self noise than AT (I want to record quiet sounds) and want to remain with a single mic (no sets with two mics).
I am able to spend up to $ 1500. The mic would be plugged into Edirol R-44 field recorder.
Can you recommend me something?
Thanks a lot!
Must it be two-channel only? A more flexible way to go might be the Core Tetra-mic:

Because of the mic geometry you can do ever conceivable mic pattern after the fact, including all common stereo techniques as well. I run primarily an Edirol R4, and I really want one of these suckers.
Just a thought anyway.
Btw: How do you like the R44? Are the preamps quiet enough? (Probably my only complaint with the R4)
